The chronologic study of oil pool forming is the effective measure to reveal the processes and the rate of oil pool forming. The authors discuss measures for the chronologic study of oil pool forming in systematic way,i.e. the measures mainly contain the K Ar dating of authigenic illites in oil bearing sandstone reservoir incorporated with traditional geological methods, and do some research on Daqing Oil Field. The results show that the Lamadian, Sartu and Xingshugang block anticline reservoir in the north of the field were formed during 65Ma to 40Ma, and the anticline reservoir controlled by lithology in the south of the field were formed during 77.4Ma to 73Ma, which has been verified by numerical simulation.THe high speed and effective dynamic processes of secondary oil migration and accumulation are brought to light.
