The Relationship between Personality Traits and Subjective Well-being of Impoverished College Students

This paper aims to study the relationship between personality traits and subjective well-being of impoverished college students in regional colleges to provide bases for impoverished college students' mental health care.Taking the methods with NEO-FFI,Emotion Questionnaire,Life Satisfaction Scales,a survey was conducted among the students of four colleges in the west Guangdong.It analyzed the data of 221 students,which shows the results: no significant economic,gender differences in the scores of personality traits,subjective well-being among impoverished college students;negative affection was positively correlated with neuroticism,and negatively correlated with extraversion,openness,agreeableness,and conscientiousness;life satisfaction was negatively correlated with neuroticism,and positively correlated with extraversion,openness,agreeableness,and conscientiousness;positive affection held the same;the five personality dimensions all entered the regression equation of life satisfaction;neuroticism entered the regression equation of negative affection;neuroticism and extraversion entered the regression equation of positive affection.So personality traits of impoverished college students had an important effect on subjective well-being.
