ULTRASTRUCTURAL OBSERVATION OF T-2 TOXIN AND SE-DEFICIENT FEED INDUCED LESIONS IN THE MYOCARDIUM OF CHICKEN

Yuan Benli,et al Institute of Toxicology and Pharmacology, Academy of Military Medical Sciences,Beijing
Effects of T-2 toxin and Se-deficient feed on the ultrastructure of the myocardium of chicken were studied. Chickens were given Se-deficient feed and or T-2 toxin orally at the dosage of 0. 2-0. 4 mg/kg/d for 9 weeks. Under light microscope,no abnormal changes were observed. Under electric microscope, the lesions of the myocardial cells were found in some regions. In the Se-deficient feed group, there were slight mitochondrial swollen ,cristae rupture, and vacuolar change. Myeloid body, dilated sacoplasm reticulum and in which some electron-dense material in the matrix can be found. In the T-2 toxin group, the vacuolar changes were obvious,in which there was different electron-dense. Some myofibril moved their position due to vacuolar distention. In the Se-deficient feed add T-2 toxin group, the changes were similar to two groups above, but the injury was more obvious.
