Studies on the pharmacology and toxicity of Toutongshenxiaodan

Toutongslienxiaodan consists of Rhizome of Szechwan Lovage,Safflower, Peach seed, Gambirplant, Herb of Manchurian Wildginger, Root of Dahurian Angelica and others. This paper reports the experimental results of its pharmacology and toxicity. The results showed that it had remarkable analgesic and sedative effects. It could relax blood vessels, reduce blood pressure, increase cerebral blood flow and tolerance to anoxia, and improve microcirculation. It had the efficacy of inhibiting blood platelet aggregation and reducing blood viscosity.It was preliminarily proved that no remarkable adverse reaction were ever noted in acute and subacute toxicological experiments.
