Folded core structure of aluminum ally is of good energy absorption ability and can be designed flexibly. However, the difficulty in forming of aluminum alloy folded core structure limits its application and development. To find a simple and efficient forming method, the stamping processes of aluminum alloy 5052,6061 and 7075 folded core structure were studied experimentally. And the influences of different factors such as material properties, sheet thickness, stamping speed and initial temperature of sheet on the forming process were discussed. The results show that in cold stamping process, the slow stamping velocity results in less thinning rate at danger point, while in hot stamping process both too fast and too slow stamping speeds are not fit for forming folded core structure. Furthermore, the increase of initial temperature of aluminum sheet can modify the quality of forming.
