CoAl layered double hydroxide as electrode material for supercapacitor

LIU Xian-ming, ZHANG Xiao-gang(Institute of Applied Chemistry, Xinjiang University, Urumqi Xinjiang 830046, China)  
CoAl layered double hydroxide 0.165(OH)2·nH2O] was prepared by chemical co-precipitation. Its physical properties were characterized and discussed by XRD, TEM and IR measurements. The results show that the material has layered structure and belongs to hexagonal system while its diameter range is from 60 nm to 70 nm. The CoAl layered double hydroxide as electrode material for supercapacitor performs typical capacitance properties by the electrochemical tests, such as cyclic voltammogram, AC impedance and constant current charge/discharge. Its capacitance has little attenuation after 500 cycles and the specific capacitance of single electrode is up to 400 F/g.
