Research on mathematic model and SOC estimation method of traction-battery for electric vehicle

This paper gave a brief review on the electrochemistry process of lead-acid batteries. A dynamic R-Q battery model, considering the temperature effect, and its associated SOC evaluation method based on state space were proposed. Simulation results of two different battery discharge processes indicated that the present SOC evaluation method with the characters of preciseness,reliability,efficency and realizability was suitable for EV application. As the SOC of battery was estimated by computing the steady open-circuit voltage, there was no accumulated error during cycles .And the present SOC evaluation method could be applied to the other types of batteries for EV/HEV as well.
