Design of flow channels for proton exchange membrane fuel cells

Proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) is an ideal power source for human beings development and environmental requirements for its high efficiency,high specific energy and low pollution.Bipolar plate is an important component for PEMFC and the mass is 60% of the whole fuel stack.The design of flow channels on the bipolar plate affects both fuel cell performance and cost.The contemporary flow channel designs in bipolar plates were reviewed comprehensively.Various considerations in the design of flow channels were illustrated and their impacts on the performance of PEMFC were analyzed.A perspective on the further development of flow channel designs was given.
