Progress on Drug Resistance Macrocyclic Lactone Endectocides

CHEN Lin,CHEN Zhang-liu(College of Veterinary Medicine,South China Agricultural University,Guangzhou,Guangdong,510642,China)
Macrocyclic lactone endectocides are native and semisynthetic 16-membered macrocyclic lactone compounds. They are wide used in agriculture due to their eminent activity of paralysing internal and external parasites.Lately, resistance reports to them were produced in the world. The development and origin of resistance related to their structure, properties, selective pressure, the genetics of resistance, frequency of treatment, time of treatment, efficacy of treatment, dose levels, dose rates. The main resistance mechanisms lie in the alternation of the Glutamate-gated chloride channel sub-units conformation. But it is beyond this. The alternation of gamma aminobutyricacid receptors and the alternation of structure of P-glycoprotein gene are concern to macrocyclic lactone endectocides resistance mechanisms.
