The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effect of endotoxin(LPS) on Na~(+)-K~(+)-ATPase and explore the action mechanisns of LPS in the goats with endoxemia. The healthy goats(10 kg±(1 kg)) were randomly divided into two group: saline group(n=6) and LPS group(n=6).The saline group and LPS group received saline and Lipopolysaccharide(1 mg/kg) through neck vein, respectively. The blood samples were collected at 0,0.5,1,2,3, 4,5 h and 6 h after treatment, then separated red blood cell and serum from the sample and made red blood cell membrane.Na~(+)-K~(+)-ATPase in the red blood cell membrane and the K~(+) concentration in the red blood cell and serum were measured. It showed that Na~(+)-K~(+)-ATPase(LPS group) initially became more active, then repressed.Concentration of K~(+) in the red blood cell initially increased, then decreased. On contrast, concentration of K~(+)in the serum initially decreased and then increased.
