Current Status and Prospect on Disease Control Technology in Staple Freshwater Fishes

Staple freshwater fishes are the main part of aquaculture in China and play an important role in our fisheries.With the development of high-density and intensive farming system,their disease becomes more and more serious.It was characterized by more kinds of diseases,broad areas of disease outbreak,a longer time lasting,a high mortality and high difficulty in controlling.The economic loss caused by disease was 4 billion Yuan yearly,amounting to 70% of the total loss of fish disease.Through being developed for nearly half a century,the technology of disease control and prevention in staple freshwater fishes had made some progress.But that can not satisfy practical requirement of aquaculture industrial development,especially for serious diseases.Disease is still one of the obstacles for industrial development of staple freshwater fishes.This paper reviewed the development course of disease control and prevention technology in staple freshwater fishes,and illustrated current status of disease control and prevention technology from several aspects such as detection and diagnosis techniques of disease,drug therapy technology,immunity prevention techniques,ecological prevention disease techniques and comprehensive prevention disease technology.In this paper,main problems existing were analyzed and strategic visions were also proposed about disease control technology in staple freshwater fishes.
