Preliminary Study on the Upper Culture of Houwa

Xu Zhaofeng;Zhao Xinyang;Li Jiaxin;
The upper culture of Houwa is named after the discovery and excavation of the Houwa Neolithic site in Sanjiazi Village, Majiadian Town, Donggang City, Liaoning Province. The typical sites of Houwa upper culture include Houwa site and Beiwutun site, which have rich connotations, including the discovery of houses and a large number of pottery and jades.The results show that the upper culture of houwa was a settled village, which was mainly engaged in hunting and fishing and supplemented by agriculture and collection. There should be three origins of the upper culture of Houwa, that is, the lower culture of Houwa, the second phase of Xiaozhushan culture in Liaodong Peninsula and the lower culture of Shuidong in the upper reaches of the Taizi River. Under the influence of these three cultures, a new archaeological culture emerged. After the formation of this culture, it developed in parallel with the third phase of Xiaozhushan culture in Liaodong Peninsula, which is slightly later than the era, but the two gradually drift away, and the difference between the two cultures are getting bigger and bigger in the later period.
