Regional Economic Growth Theory and Practice

Zhang Wenhe (Department of planning Economy, People's University of China)
Polarization effect, diffusion effect and their mutual action are the main reasons ofregional economic space evolution. Bothactionstrength and way are quite different at different regional growth periods. Regional economic growth experiences three periods : (1) disperse even unorderly state; (2) part gath-ering and imbalanced development low - orderly state;(3) diffusion and relative balanced development high -orderly state. China is situated in the initial stage of regional economic growth, and its enormous regional differences are impossible to be eliminated in a short time.
