Preparation of SnO_2 nanopowder by sol-gel method and its gas sensitivity properties

SnO2 powders were synthesized by sol-gel method in the system of citric acid with Sn grain as the starting materials.The structure and crystal state of the powders were determined by XRD method.The shape and size were analyzed by means of JEM—100SX TEM.The results show this tetragonal system oxide is spherical with the mean grain size of 25 nm and its dispersity is good.The study of sensor’s gas sensing characteristic shows SnO2 has higher sensitivity(805)to 50×10–6 Cl2 at 300 ℃ when the precursor has been treated at 550 ℃.At the same time,its selectivity is also good.The response time and recovery time are 3 s and 7 s,respectively.
