Current progress in study of lead-free NBT-KBT-BT ternary piezoelectric ceramics

Based on the latest researches at home and abroad, the current progress in the investigation of lead-free piezoelectric ternary system NBT- KBT- BT in the view of morphotropic phase boundary (MPB), piezoelectric properties, depolarization temperature and doping effect are summarized. Studies indicated that there exists morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) between rhombohedral BNT and tetragonal KBT-BT; higher piezoelectric properties were obtained in the compositions near MPB while higher depolarization temperature was realized in the tetragonal compositions. It is expected that the effects and mechanism of the doping on piezoelectric and depolarization behavior, the activity improving of the ceramic powder, and the new technique of ceramics, such as grain orientation technology, etc. will become the hotspots in the investigation of NBT- KBT- BT system.
