GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND GENESIS OF THE JIAMA COPPER-POLYMETALLIC DEPOSIT IN TIBET

The Jiama copper-polymetallic deposit in Tibet is situated in the Gangdise structure-magmatite belt. It is a sole great style deposit in this region. Many scholars proposed several hypotheses for its genesis. Du Guangshu et al. thought the deposit is of sedimentation-exhalation genesis in 1998. This paper analysed geological characteristics, trace elements, major elements, mineral assemblage and rare earth elements of rocks and skarns in the Jiama ore district, indicating that as for the genesis the Jiama copper-polymetallic deposit belongs to magma hydrothermal metasomatic skarn deposits, and is Himalayan in age.
