EFFECTS OF ACID DEPOSITION ON SOIL GEOCHEMICAL CYCLES

Xu Difa, Zhong Tianxiang,Xu Dongmei, Liu Guangshen (Institute of Environment, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027)
Acid deposition affects soil geochemical cycles by altering the chemical behavior of soil constituents. In this paper the development in this aspect is discussed in detail. The effects of soil acidification on the release and leaching of the base ions Al and Si are discussed as well. The effects on existence and behavior of micrometallic elements and rare-earth elements under soil acidification conditions by affecting the balance of deposition-dissolution, adsorption-desorption, chelation-dissoceation, oxidation-deoxidization are discussed and the effects of acid deposition on the cycles of C, N, S, P are also discussed.
