Using digital velocity records simulate acceleration time history and synthesize site design earthquake

Lin Jiansheng, Lin Zijian, Xie Wenjie, Chen Junfeng, He Xingyuan and Wang Jianxin (Engineering Seismic Research Center of Quanzhou, Earthquake Administration of Fujian Province, Quanzhou 362000, China)  
In this paper, a method for simulating acceleration records from the digital broad-band velocity type records of seismograph network is studied. Through extracting phase information and generating the site design response spectrum, the concerned technique approach for site design earthquake is obtained. An earthquake record was taken as an application example for analysis and processing. FFT technique is applied in the calculation. The result can generalize the application of velocity type records of the digital seismograph network, and can significantly reduce the difference between the generation of artificial seismic wave and records from a real seismic wave. In addition, the simulated seismic wave can be designed to satisfy given target spectrum and reflect its instability both on time and frequency domain. Therefore, it provides a practical and valuable application in the earthquake engineering.
