Adaptive Detection Method for Mobile Object

In video based ITS(intelligent traffic system),background update and object detection are directly affected by the light reflection of bus coping and background occlusion.In this paper,the disadvantage of normal update and background subtraction techniques is analyzed,and an adaptive method for detecting mobile object is proposed.The color background image is reconstructed by calculating the maximum probability grayscale using grey-histogram.Inter-frame image difference and average methods are combined to adaptively update background and reliably estimate the background covered by dynamic objects.According to the approximation degree of current frame and background at each pixel,the adaptive threshold is selected and the objects are detected.And the area thresholds decided by depth of field are introduced to eliminate noise effect.In experiment,the detection effects for several update methods were compared and the results show that the new method proposed in this paper can perfectly detect dynamic objects,improve background update effect and decrease update frequency.
