The implementation of step-motor drive and auto-focus based on FPGA

A kind of step -motor drive and auto -focus is designed with Xilinx company′s Spartan – IIE series FPGA XC2S300E-6-PQ208C. The design receives the image signal from CCD sensor. The design utilizes an improved gray scale differen- tial algorithm as focus value. The sum of the gray scale differential absolute value of an image is used as the focus value. Accord- ing to the comparing result of two adjacent fields and utilizing some search strategy to control the remove of step-motor, the image can be auto-focused.
