Study on a regenerative brake for electric bicycle based on ultracapacitor

A novel technique referring regenerative brake for electric bicycle has been implemented. This device includes an ultracapacitor based accumulator, a mechanical energy transducer and PWM based boost circuit which realize the energy control and monitor from ultra -capacitor to battery. Theory modeling and Simulation has been proposed later, followed by the road experiment of the system. The result indicates that it is possible to recover 9% energy in one braking process, and 24.6% range improvement has been achieved under urban road conditions.
