SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY AND ITS APPLICATION TO STUDY OF INLAND LAKE SEDIMENTARY BASINS
Yu Shuyu Wu Jinhua (China University of Geosciences, Wuhan)
Aiming at the characteristics of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic terrestrial basins in China, the paper discusses the control of the relative change of lake level, supply of sediments and climate on the lake sequence strata in light of the influence of the sedimentary basinstructure and margin setting on the marine sequence strata. It points out that the methods of the marine sequence stratigraphy can not be used indiscriminately in the analysis of the inland basins owing to the essential differences between the marine and inland settings.
