Advances and Problems of Geological Disposal of Greenhouse Gases

The recent advances of geological sequestration of greenhouse gases are reviewed in this paper.There are three kinds of mechanism in geological sequestration.The first is that deep aquifer is regarded as a container for CO_2,and the second is the minerals in deep aquifer will react with CO_2 and then trap it,so CO_2 will remain stably underground.And thirdly,in low permeable aquifer,the transport of CO_2 is slow whose stay is controlled by hydraulics.The research by international experts shows that geological disposal of CO_2 is one of the promising methods for solving global climate problem although there are still problems about costs,safety and stability.
