3D Imaging and Visualization Technology of Micro Pore Structure in Porous Media

This paper introduces advanced 3D imaging and visualization technology of micro pore structure in porous media in the world.They include serial sectioning,focused ion beam(FIB) technology,confocal laser scanning microscopy,and Micro-CT technologies.This paper respectively analyses their advantages and limitations with a focus on the current and future application in geological field of Micro-CT technology.It states that Micro-CT or later Nano-CT is an unhurt 3D imaging technique with high resolution for micro pore network in porous media and monitoring fluid flowing state in-situ.The importance for studying pore structure and flow mechanism suggests that it should become a very popular technique in future used in petrologic,mineralogy,paleontology,material science,resources science and environment sciences.As its study and application are just at the beginning in China,this paper suggests equipment import and further investigations.
