Aesthenosphere Upwelling in Yitong Graben and Its Role on Formation and Evolution of the Basin

By this means,the thickness of lithosphere in Yitong Graben can be evaluated by the rare earth element compositions of Cenozoic basalt distributed along the boundary faults.Analysis by synthesis of the evolution of mantle and structure indicates that mantle upwelling happened twice during the period from late Cretaceous to Pleistocen.The first episode took place from late Cretaceous to Paleocene.Its amplitude value of the aesthenosphere upwelling was large and up to the depth of 50 km,resulting in the rift and subsidence of the graben.The second episode occurred in Miocene(11.5—11.0) Ma,but it did not last long,with its aesthenosphere upwelling not as intense as the first one.Some uplift zones,formed in this time,are responsible for the reform in late period of the formation of this basin,which especially caused the generation of Jianshan structure zone and the shifting of the center of subsidence in the Moliqing region.
