ADVANCES IN ENVIRONMENTAL GEOCHEMISTRY:A BRIEF REVIEW OF THE FOURTH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ENVIRONMENTAL GEOCHEMISTRY

A brief description of the 4th International Symposium on Environmental Geochemistry and a brief review of major research fields of this discipline are presented.Considering the stateofart of environmental geochemistry studies in China,the following four aspects of international research trend worth attention are concluded.①The extensive application of high and new technology to improve the quality of environmental geochemical monitoring data and increase our ability to process the data obtained.②Environmental pollution problems caused by mineral resource exploitation have become the focus of environmental geochemical studies abroad.Correspondingly,multidisciplinary studies are certainly required.③Geotechnology of water pollution control is a new priority field of environmental engineering studies in which environmental geochemists should play an active role.④More attention will be paid to urban environmental geochemistry.
