Research and Development of Orefield Geology

An orefield refers to geological units or domains where ore deposits and metallogenesis are densely distributed and developed,equivalent to a metallogenic unit of grade V in metallogenetic division. The authors recently put forward the concept of orefield geology,which covers studies of formation,structure and metallogeny of oilfields. We also proposed an idea of prospecting deposits based on this concept,i.e. the interface of tectono-lithofacies is a geological basis for prospecting;the tectono-geochemistry interface contains information of prospecting and prediction;and the interface of tectono-physicochemistry reflects the essential of metallogenesis. We propose that the integrated exploration area is an exploration domain which consists of one or several orefields,which may provide a new approach for breakthrough in future prospecting.
