POLLEN ANALYSIS OF LATE QUATERNARY IN BEIJING PLAIN AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE

Basing upon the research results it may be suggested that Beijing Plain was characterized by forest and steppe with pine, spruce, fir and broad-leaf species in Late Pleistocene (dated by radiocarbon at 29300 ± 1350) and by cold climate. The average annual temperature was about 4℃. This period can be correlated with the Wisconsin glacial stage of North America, Wurm glacial stage of Europe and Daili glacial stage of China. Since then, the temperature rose and the geologic time has stepped into Holocene.
