A STUDY ON STANDARDIZATION OF FISSION TRACK DATING

The paper presents the results of a study on standardization of fission track dating.The uranium dosimeter glass was calibrated against Co activation foil,and thedating results based on two neutron fluence measurement methods,Co activation foiland calibrated uranium dosimeter glass,were compared by using age standards.Theresults show that both methods have a small positive error and the calibrated uranium dosimeter glass may give more accurate ages.In order to overcome systematicerror,seven age standards,including apatite,zircon and sphene,were calibrated against SRM 962 uranium dosimeter glass.It was found that the Zeta constants amongthe three minerals were consistene.The overall weighed mean Zeta value was calculated as 327.4±7.8(2σ).
