STUDY ON ISOTOPIC CHRONOLOGY OF THE MAZHUANGSHAN GOLD MINERALIZATION,EASTERN XINJIANG

Located geographically in the border of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Gansu Province and geologically in the juncture of the Siberian, T arim, Kazakhstan and Sino Korean palaeoplate, the Mazhuangshan paleovolcanic ap paratus is a typical ore control one in eastern Xinjiang. Geological and geoche mical evidence indicates that the Manzhuangshan gold deposit, a volcanogenic one , shows direct genetic relationship with contemporary volcanic-subvolcanic acti vities and is controlled by the Manzhuangshan paleovolcanic apparatus. chronolog ical study on subvolcanic rocks and gold bearing gold veins show that both the paleovolcanic apparatus and the gold deposit were formed during the Middle Carbo niferous with the Rb Sr isochron ages of rhyolite porphyry, dacite porphyry and fluid inclusions of quartz from the gold-bearing quartz veins to be 301±21Ma, 303±26 Ma and 298±28 Ma(95% confidence), respectively.
