CHARACTERISTICS OF STIBNITE IN THE LEJIAWEN ANTIMONY DEPOSIT,NORTHERN GUANGDONG PROVINCE

The mineralogical characteristics of stibnite in the Lejiawen Antimony deposit are systematically studied in this paper. The anion S~(-2) is depleted by 0.067—0.080 according to the crystal-chemical formulae. There is a good negative correlation between the cell parameter a_0 and the formation temperature, which is in accord with B. D. Danilo's experimental a_0 -t curve. The reflectance Rg=37.81-48.11%, Rm=33.63-38.98% and Rp=25.97-30.39%, its nonhomogeneity changes more intensely in long waves than in short ones. The values of specific gravity measured and calculated fall in the field of standard value (4.51-4.66). The hardness is 70-113kg/mm~2. On the natural thermoluminescence curves, there are two types of luminescence peaks; the first is in the range of 163—200℃ and the second in 220—227℃. The δ~(34)S value is in the range of -1.2 to + 1.0%. The measurement results of three crystals indicate that all have simple forms of {010}, {110}, {210} and {111} and no {0kl} and {h01}. Among all the simple forms, the {111} is the developed best developed and in the process of crystal growth, the number of simple forms decrease and the index becomes low.
