THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CLIMATIC CHANGES AND ANIMALS'MIGRATION THROUGH LANDBRIDGES IN CENOZOIC

Deng Tao(Department of Geology, Northwest University, Xi'an 710069)
he faunal provinces among the continents have both difference and relation. The tectogensis is themotive force of the continental connection and separation, and animals' migration through the landbridgesbrings about interchanges between the continents. However, during enormous climatic changes in Cenozoic, the rise and fall of the sea level was an important reason that made the landbridges broken or joined. Theevidences of paleontology have proved that there is an identical relationship between climatic changes andanimals' migration through the landbridges. At present the greenhouse effect gets more and more seriousl asa result, the rise of the sea level, which is caused by the global climate's warming up, must force many speciesto change their distribution. and will harm mankind consequently. Therefore, it has pratical significance thatwe understand the relationship between animals' migration and climatic changes.
