Self-similar Texture of the Mid-Longling-Ruili Strike-Slip System and the Location of Hydrothermal Deposits

The Longling-Ruili strike-slip system is a large right-lateral strike-slip belt. which is the southern part of the boundary between the Tengchong block and the Shan State block in the Sanjiang (Nujiang River-Lancang River-Jinsha River) tectonic belt in western Yunnan. It is a flower structure system, which has a self-similar texture on the vertical section. On the horizontal section, it is a self-similar mesh structure intrically composed of intensive strain belts and weak strain regions, showing a complex pattern of large-scale mesh structures overlapped by smaller ones. Hydrothermal alteration is mainly concentrated in the following three parts of the weak strain areas of various scales:①the place where the weak strain region disappears and the surface orientation in this part corresponds to the strike-slip motion on the same side; ② near the fault formed from a tensile-shear strain, which results in strong dislocation; and ③ the brecciat-ed belt or brecciated weak strain area. Geochemical anomalies, gold mineralization and hy-drotherma alteration in the strike-slip belt are controlled by the major faults in the flower structure system on the vertical section. However, on the horizontal section, they are located in the large-scale mesh structures as described above. This location law is driven by the concentration of fluids in low-pressure regions caused by pressure differences resulting from matching of pressure-rising belts and pressure-dropping regions, which is a result of differential deformation during the strike-slip motion.
