Experimental Investigation on the Fouling Characteristics of Twisted Tube in Oil Cooler

The comparable experimental investigation on the fouling characteristics of normal tube and twisted tubes in oil cooler was carried out.The normal tube size is φ19×2,the twisted tubes are made of the normal tube of the same size,and the screw pitch is 130mm or 180mm,230mm.By experiments,the effect of Reynolds number and screw pitch was studied.The results show that the fouling resistance decreases with the screw pitch decreases,and there is a little difference on fouling characteristics of normal tube and twisted tubes if Re≤1500.With Re increased,the fouling resistance decreases,but twisted tube's decreases much more than normal tube.If Re≥10000,the fouling resistance of the twisted tube is about 1/2 to 1/4 of the normal tube.
