THE CONCEPT OF IMPEDANCE-PERTURBATION AS APPLIED TO GEOMETRICAL IMPERFECTIONS IN CIRCULAR WAVEGUIDES IN RADIO RELAY SYSTEM

CH'IEN CHING-JEN, LIE MONG AND HUANG HUNG-CHIA  
In this paper, formulas for computing the coupling coefficients between waveguide modes caused by wall deformations are obtained by means of the concept of impedance-perturbation. As a supplement to a previous note[5], waveguide joint problem is then analyzed. From these results the amplitudes of the unwanted modes by a nonideal waveguide joint are derived in case the incident wave is an H11-mode, and the expected value of the de-coupling coefficient between cross-polarized H11-modes is calculated in terms of the statistics of the waveguide elliptical deformation.
