CALIBRATING THE FUZZINESS IN EARTHQUAKE INTENSITY AND ITS ENGINEERING APPLICATION

Based on the attenuation of seismic intensity provided by Reference 1, this paper studies the fuzziness associated with China's seismic intensity zoning map. In order to meet the requirements of the newly-published aseismic bullding code . (GBJ11-89), this paper also provides a method for calibrating the fuzziness in the evaluation of the seismic intensity and the near and distant earthquakes. Meanwhile, a method for determining parameters used in structure designs is also put forward.
