Prediction of Southwest China Strong Earthquakes based on Support Vector Machines

The yearly seismic intensity of Southwest China is predicted based on a classifying model of Support Vector Machine by taking the sunspot numbers, the Earth's rotation rate variation data and the number of the global earthquakes with M≥7.0 as prediction factors. The prediction result is good, which shows the classification of Support Vector Machine has some practicability in earthquake intensity prediction.
