MULTI-STAGE ENRICHMENT-THE KEY MECHANISM FOR RICH IRON ORE IN CHINA AND DISCUSSION ON IRON ORE PROSPECTING IN MIDDLE AND LOWER YANGTZE RIVER

Data available shows that multi-stage enrichment is the key metallogenic mechanism for rich iron ore in china. The rich iron ore is divided into ①contact metasomatic replacement-hydrothermal type, ②multi-genetic overprinting type, ③volcanic type. The proven reserve of the three types is about 89% of the total rich iron ore in china. On the statistical basis of the results several problems for iron ore prospecting in Middle and Lower Reach of Yangtze River are discussed in the paper.
