To observe osteocalcin(OC), bone alkaline phosphatase(BALP), and procollagen type I carboxyterminal propeptide(PCPI) the status the phenotypic markers of osteoblasts tor vitamin D deficiency rickets(VDDR) in infancy. These indexes of OC AALP and PCPL were determined by using ELISA and RIA in 17 cases of VDDR and 20 cases of paired controls. 25 hydroxy vitamin D 3 was assayed, too. PCPI level was higher in VDDR [(752.67±322.7)μg/L] than control group[(526.5±250.6)μg/L, P 0.05]. BALP level was higher in VDDR [(121.3±23.7)U/L] than control group [(52.9±23.7)U/L, P 0.001]. OC level was lower in VDDR [(11.4±10.2)ug/L] than control group [(25.6±18.0)ug/L, P 0.01]. There were Positive correlation between BALP and PCPI in two groups ( r=0.484 P 0.01). There were negative correlation between BALP and OC in two groups ( r=-0.435, P 0.01). There were negative correlation between OC and PCPI in two groups ( r=-0.409, P 0.01). [Conclusions] In VDDR in infancy, phenotypic markers of osteoblasts presented different status. The production of BALP and PCPI were increased, however, the production of OC was suppressed.
