Experimental Research on Enhancing Heat Transfer in Spirally Fluted Tubes

The paper reports on experimental research on the made of operation within the tubes of tube type air preheaters of power plants, as well as the internal flow resistance and heat transfer properties of spirally fluted tubes. It analyzes the effect of Re number within the tube, as well as that of flute's depth and pitch, on the flow resistance and heat transfer within the tube; herewith obtaining a criterion of their interrelationship. A quantitative estimate of the heat transfer performance capability of spirally fluted tubes is presented in addition.
