Effects of Patio upon Indoor Thermal Environment in Huizhou Residential Buildings in Summer

Patio plays an important role in regulating the indoor thermal environment in Huizhou residential buildings. Four typical Huizhou residential buildings in Mountain Huang are selected to show unique roles of different forms of patios from temperature and humidity. The paper combines our survey and practical test of Huizhou residential buildings, clarifies the important value of patio in Huizhou residential buildings to improve indoor thermal environment, and provides guidance and reference for design and research of residences with climate adaptability.
