This thesis investigates how the preposition"of"is used in Chinese learners' compo- sitions by obtaining samples from Chinese Learner English Corpus(CLEC).The au- thor finds that although"of"is multi-functional,students only employ few functions of it. Some usages of the preposition"of"tend to be overused.The second finding of this re- search is that except for the clausal function of the preposition"of",the other five func- tions in five sample groups are all significantly different.The author analyzes the above usages of the preposition"of"and puts forward some pedagogical suggestions.
