ALKALINE MODE HYDRIDE GENERATION WITH ICP SPECTROMETRY FOR DETERMINATION OF Ge IN ORES

An alkaline Ge solution containing NaBH_4 reacts with acid (alkaline mode reaction) can also produce GeH_4 with product being as much as that of the traditional acid mode reaction (acidic Ge solution reacts with NaBH_4), The hydride generation (HG) combined with ICP spectrometry for the determination of trace Ge is developed. The essential merit of the alkaline mode reaction lies in preventing serious chemical interferences from Ⅷ and IB metals. By using the alkaline mode hydride generation-ICP spectrometry method, Ge in fine copper ore and in Zn residue is determined, the results are fairly good. The recovery of this method is 97.2% and the detection limit reachs 2.5 ng/ml.
