Development of Numerical Wave Flumes Based on OpenFOAM

With wave boundary method and mass source method,numerical wave flumes are developed.And the damping method is adopted to absorb the numerical wave at the end of the flume.The wave boundary method sets velocity and surface elevation at the inlet boudary according to numerical or analytical solutions of waves.And the mass source method adds a mass source into the equation of mass conservation.With the numical wave flumes,the linear wave and second-order Stokes wave are simulated and compared with theoretical sloutions.It is shown that both of the two methods are very effective and accurate for numerical wave simulation.As the wave boundary method needs the boundary velocities to be known,it is not capable to simulate complex conditions,such as waveflow interaction,while the mass source method is capable.However,as the simulation domain is larger than that of the wave boundary method,the mass source method is less efficient than the wave boundary method.
