Zhang Jin chun,Wang Jie,Li Ai de,E You hao (Gansu Desert Control Research Institute,Wuwei 733000,Gansu,China)  
Through the investigation and analysis,the result of distribution of root system and growth of Pinus sylvestris var.mongolica in Minqin showed that the root distribution of Pinus sylvestris var.mongolica more concentrated.The root range of horizontal distribution was 0~250 cm and vertical distribution was 0~20 cm and occupying 50%~60% of total amounts.The growth was more quickly than other ever green trees in Minqin.Annual high growth was about 60cm and diameter growth was above 1.0 cm at 10 year tree ages.The comparison with other evergreen trees in Minqin,the adaptability of Pinus sylvestris var.mongolica is more better.After2~3years,the growth speed of transplanted seedlings could reach originals' and it was sensitive to temperature,illumination and moisture.The growthspeed was faster under the sufficient illumination and moisture,and slower in dry and low temperature.
