The first crop of ratoon rice in one week before maturity suffered from typhoon resulted in a slight decrease in grain yield, but inhibited germination of axillary buds owing to stem damage by breaking and subsequently caused sharp decline of yield in the second crop. The yield loss of the second crop of ratoon rice will be significantly reduced when rice plants of the first crop can be immediately propped up after lodging.
