Investigation on the Undergraduate Professional Commitment and Learning Burnout in This School

YI Linling, SHEN Xiaomin (Fuqing Branch of Fujian Normal University, Fuqing, Fujian 350300)  
This paper aims to investigate the present status of the professional commitment and learning burnout of 377 students in this school with corresponding scales. The result shows that the students’ level of professional commitment is not adequate whereas the level of burnout is rather high. In terms of gender, female students’professional commitment is higher than that of males and the burnout level of males is higher, yet, on the aspect of the sense of accomplishment, males are higher than females; in terms of specialty, the professional commitment of the students from science majors is a little higher than that of the students from the arts, whose burnout level is higher; last, in terms of grades, freshmen’s professional commitment is higher than that of the sophomores, juniors and seniors and the burnout level of the juniors and seniors is higher than that of the freshmen and sophomores. The regression analysis shows that the emotional commitment is the most important prediction variable leading to the burnout of the students in this school.
