Countermeasures to Curb Pollution Due to Nitrogen Loss in Farmland

This paper summarizes the pollution status due to nitrogen loss in farmland with respect to pollution of surface and ground waters, atmosphere and farm produce. Preventive measures are suggested such as implementation of eco-agronomy policy including optimum application of fertilizer-N, variety breeding with high N efficiency and use of controlled-release fertilizers.
