Biosorption of Chromium by Yeast Fused Strain-Activated Sludge in Aeration

The capacity of biosorption of chromium contained wastewater by yeast fused strain RHJ-004 and activated sludge in aeration was discussed. Results showed that good efficiency was achieved when 10g/L strain and 6g/L activated sludge were used to adsorb 50mg/L Cr-wastewater with reduction and removal efficiency up to 83.26% and 72.04%. The reduction and removal efficiency were over 80% and 70% at pH of 1~5, which showed that biosorption medicament was suitable for acidic Cr-wastewater treatment. There was favourable impact with reduction and removal efficiency over 75% and 65% when DO was 2~4 mg/L. Both Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models were suitable for describing biosorption of Cr6+ by yeast fused strain RHJ-004 and activated sludge and the latter was better.
