Treatment of Leachate of Yellow Phosphorus Industry by Activated Carbon Adsorption

The adsorption capacity,adsorption thermodynamic and kinetics of organics in leachate of yellow phosphorus industry on granular activated carbon were investigated.Results showed that the adsorption capacity of organics on granular activated carbon was nearly not impacted by pH of leachate,and adsorption equilibrium could be achieved in 45 minutes.Freundlich adsorption isotherm model can be properly used to formulate the adsorption behavior,it also indicated that the adsorption is mainly multi-layer.The pseudo-second-order kinetic model could well describe the process of organics on granular activated carbon,with rate constants 0.12128g/(mg·min) and adsorption of equilibrium 5.78748mg/g.
